Event Details:

Location
Browntown is located at the intersection of Route 649 (Browntown Road) and Route 613 (Bentonville Road) in southern Warren County, Virginia. Registration & check-in are at the finish line, just a few yards from this intersection. (In the event of inclement weather, registration will be held inside the Browntown Community Center nearby.) Parking is usually at the Browntown Baptist Church, along with other nearby properties for overflow; volunteers will direct you.

Entry fees
$20 early or $25 on race day, which includes a navy blue beanie (a.k.a. knit hat) embroidered with the race's logo. Without the beanie, fees are just $12 early or $17 on race day. Members of the Shenandoah Valley Runners may take a $2 discount on these fees, and members of other eligible running clubs may take a $1 discount (see below). See our Web site's registration page for more info, or sign up right here on RaceIt!
Additional beanies may be purchased for $10 each, while supplies last. (The option to purchase additional beanies will come up during the online registration process. If you don't want to buy an additional beanie, just leave that section blank and proceed!) If we have any extra beanies available on race day, we will sell them for $10 each as well.

Questions? Want to volunteer?
Contact race director Karsten Brown by e-mail (best bet) or at (540) 635-1773. We can definitely use some volunteer help on race day. Volunteers get a free beanie!

Beneficiary
If there are any proceeds from the race, they will be donated to the Browntown Community Center Association. (Our race is not a money-making venture or a fundraiser; our primary goal just to not lose money! We try to keep our entry fees as low as we can while still being able to cover the event expenses. Typicaly we're able to donate $100-$200 each year; last year an especially good turnout enabled us to donate a record $539.75!)

The fine print
This is a small, relatively low-key event without many volunteers or resources. Please be aware that the course will be open to vehicular traffic, so participants will need to pay extra attention during the race. For safety and insurance reasons, participants may not run the race with personal listening devices (i.e. headphones, iPods, etc.), baby joggers/strollers, or dogs, and violators will be disqualified. On-site medical assistance will not be available. Entry fees are non-refundable, and entries are non-transferable.
